Wayne White rejoins Derbyshire

The all-rounder leaves Lancashire after one season

Derbyshire have signed all-rounder Wayne White on a one-year deal.

The all-rounder rejoins the club who he represented in 11 first-class matches between 2005 and 2008, before enjoying spells with Leicestershire and Lancashire.

White featured on-loan in Derbyshire’s final four LV= County Championship fixtures in 2014, claiming 11 wickets at an average of 20.81 and helping the county secure three victories.

The 29-year-old has featured in 76 first-class matches in total, hitting over 2,500 runs with a top-score of 101 versus Derbyshire in 2008, and claiming 166 wickets.

He is also an experienced performer in limited-overs formats having made 118 appearances and played a key role in Leicestershire’s 2011 Twenty20 success.

Elite Performance Director Graeme Welch said: “Wayne is a talented home-grown player who has gone away and furthered his experience in county cricket.

He bowled very well at key times during his loan stint last season and his spell against Surrey was one of the best all season.

“He’s a player who will strengthen our bowling unit and now has a golden chance to really fulfil his potential back at his home county.”
