Derbyshire’s Billy Godleman has been banned for two County Championship fixtures following a Level Two breach of discipline, according to the ECB.

The incident in question involved an incident in which Gloucestershire, Derbyshire’s last opponent, attempted to scamper a quick run to Godleman, who threw the ball to his wicketkeeper but ended up striking batsman Peter Handscomb. The two ended up in an altercation, which the standing umpires had to diffuse on Day Three of their encounter at Bristol.

At the end of play, umpires Martin Saggers and Rob Bailey submitted a report to the ECB, having spoken to Godleman once stumps were drawn, with the cricketing authority passing judgement after the game.

Godleman was also involved in an incident against Leicestershire at the end of the 2014 season, meaning that he has been banned for a second infringement in two years and will miss Derbyshire’s Division Two fixtures against Glamorgan and Northamptonshire.
