Warwickshire have announced the appointment of Neil Snowball as Chief Executive, replacing Colin Powey at the start of 2016.

Snowball will take over from the retiring Powey, having previously been the chief operating officer for England Rugby 2015 Ltd, the committee responsible for this year’s Rugby World Cup.

As a lifelong cricket fan, Snowball has also been part of Guildford Cricket Club, and also has an association with Surrey County Cricket Club.

Prior to his current role, Neil was Head of Sport Operations at the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) where he was responsible for service delivery and operational management for the 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports, and 45 competition venues.

Meanwhile, Ian Lovett will step down as Middlesex chairman at the end of the year.

He will be replaced as chairman by current treasurer Mike O’Farrell, who will assume the chairmanship on January 1.

Lovett said: “It has been a huge honour to Chair our marvellous club, but, after nine seasons, and with my continuing role as deputy chairman of the ECB, I am sure that now is the right time to hand over the reins for others to take us through the next stage of our development.

“We are in excellent health on the field with a youth structure that is the envy of many, and off it with growing membership numbers and financial stability.”
