More injury news from Yorkshire’s bowling attack

New signing David Willey has been diagnosed with an abdominal injury and ordered to take a break from bowling for six weeks.

He may still bat in Yorkshire’s current County Championship match against Surrey if he is required but will not bowl again.

The period of time that he has been advised to take off from bowling could mean that he is unavailable for limited-overs England duty as well.

Tim Bresnan is still recovering from a torn calf muscle sustained during the County Champions’ pre-season tour of the UAE and Ryan Sidebottom has been sidelined for the last two Championship matches following an ankle injury picked up in their Warwickshire tie at the end of April.

Despite Herculean innings from England men Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, Yorkshire’s current County Championship match again Surrey looks set to fizzle into a draw due to rain on day three and a delayed start to day four’s proceedings.
