Essex v Derbyshire at Chelmsford

Stumps, Day Three: Derbyshire 280 (Bopara 5-49) & 150-1 (Godleman 75) trail Essex 538-7 (Browne 255, Lawrence 116) by 108 runs

Derbyshire worked hard this evening in their attempts to avoid giving Essex another victory. Finishing 258 runs behind their hosts, after a post-lunch collapse that saw them bowled out in just over an hour, the Falcons were forced to follow on.

It was a more determined Derbyshire that came out for their second appearance of the day, lead by captain Billy Godleman who reached his half century with a barrage of boundaries and reached 75 before Aaron Beard bowled him.

It was the only wicket to fall in the in the innings, although the visitors had already lost Chesney Hughes to illness.

Worcestershire v Sussex at New Road

Stumps, Day Three: Sussex 278 & 137-3 (Joyce 74) trail Worcestershire 491 (D’Oliveira 99) by 76 runs

Sussex face an uphill battle to save their game with Worcestershire, with seven wickets in hand heading into the final day – the same amount they lost on Day Three.

Resuming on 192-6, Ben Brown added just six to his overnight 49, leaving Steve Magoffin (20) to support Ollie Robinson, who once again furthered batting credentials with an unbeaten 51.

But Sussex fell 213 short of Worcestershire’s first innings total, losing three more wickets while following on. Ed Joyce (74) and an obdurate Luke Wells both fell to Tom Kohler-Cadmore catches, while Chris Nash was bowled by Jack Shantry to keep the hosts on top in what was a potential promotion decider pre-season.

Gloucestershire v Glamorgan at Bristol
