The interminable T20 train keeps a-chugging and we now welcome Glamorgan to Hove. They are one place above us and so, presumably, rubbish.
I decide that Garton is for the chop and bring back in Olly Robinson because, to be honest, 58.50 is not really on with the ball.
Also on the block is Munsey. I like him but he’s averaging 1.00 – literally – so he’s out. 22 year old Bermudan Delray Rawlins gets the nod as I want to try him out.
We lose the toss – seriously again? – and Glamorgan put us in to bat.
Shehan Jayasuriya goes for 4 before Marchant de Lange cleans him out. 9-1 and my usual joy at T20 continues.
Next over, international globe trotting tit Luke Wright manages to get caught on the crease to Flying Dutchman Timm van der Gugten. 9-2.
I pull out the latest Jeremy Duns and read that instead of watching this drivel.
Laurie Evans and Travis Head stabilise things, but Head then miscues one off Lukas Carey and is well caught by Joe Cooke. 55-3 – This might be an early night.
Rawlins comes in, does brilliantly and rushes to 30-odd. Then he suffers a weird lack of confidence and begins playing – and missing – at everything. His misery is stomped on when he is bowled by de Lange for 35. Its come off 25 balls and is better than averaging one, so happy enough with the selection. 111-4 with 18 overs gone.
Evans finishes not out on 37 and we end 116-4. I toy with taking a nap.
Glamorgan begin by going along at a fair clip before Nick Selman gets confused and Claydon gets himself a wicket. 34-1.
Connor Brown and Colin Ingram get on it and begin ticking up the runs. But the other new selection, Robinson, gets us the breakthrough as he gets Brown for 32. However, 68-2 off 6 means we’re humped.
Robinson is not as pessimistic as I am, though, and he then traps Marnus Labuschagne for a duck. Two lbws in two balls and this is the hat trick.
Instead of a hat trick, he gets smacked to the boundary for 6.
I bring Evans and Ravi Bopara on for their customary middle overs. Evans finishes 2-0-10-0. Ravi finishes 1.5-0-20-0 and the game is over. Glamorgan win by 7 wickets and we are rooted to the foot of the table.
On the bright side, we’ll be able to take advantage of the beach long before everyone else at this rate.
Frankly the most depressing thing is that we still have another 10 games of this rubbish to undergo.
