Middlesex pair rewarded with contract extensions

Middlesex fast bowlers Harry Podmore and Tom Helm have both penned contract extensions to keep them at Lord’s.

Helm made his debut for the county in 2013, but was unable to add to a solid start to his 2015 campaign as a long-term back injury kept him on the sidelines.

Podmore, meanwhile, enjoyed a fruitful campaign with the second XI, taking three five-wicket hauls among his 42 wickets, while also notching a maiden Second Eleven Championship century against Essex.

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket, Angus Fraser, commented: “In Harry and Tom, Middlesex CCC are fortunate to have two extremely talented and exciting young fast bowlers.

“If the pair of them continue to work hard, remain fit and strong, and develop as they have, they will be a major part of our plans for many years to come.

“Harry produced a very good season of Second XI cricket in 2015. He was a pivotal figure in the team’s success and showed that he has talent with the bat too.

“A back injury meant that Tom had a disappointing and frustrating season but he remains one of the most exciting young fast bowlers in the country.”
