Gloucestershire have announced the signing of Australian bowler Andrew Tye, who will join their T20 Blast campaign for 2016.
Tye, 29, is a teammate of Michael Klinger at the Perth Scorchers, and was part of the side that won the 2014 Big Bash League, notching an impressive 14 wickets at an average of below 20 to be hailed as the “find of the tournament” by fellow Australian Aaron Finch.
He will be available for the entirety of Gloucestershire’s Blast campaign, and has already featured in T20 leagues across the world when he played for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2015.
Despite hailing from Perth, Tye will be no stranger to English conditions, having played Second XI cricket for Somerset, Durham and Northants.
Gloucestershire head coach, Richard Dawson, said: “I saw him last year in the Big Bash where he was very impressive in helping Perth Scorchers win the competition.
“We are looking to make improvements in T20 cricket this year and get through the group stages. Andrew will help us achieve that. He is a highly skilled bowler who will significantly add to our T20 cricket.”
