Slazenger Cricket sent a commiserations hamper to Sir Ian Botham in the West Indies containing various items to help England’s former greatest bowler as he continues to adjust to life after Jimmy Anderson broke his English wicket record.
Jimmy Anderson took his 384th Test wicket against the West Indies in Antigua on the 17th April to replace Sir Ian as Engand’s leading Test wicket taker.
The light-hearted package was created by Jimmy’s sponsors Slazenger and contained; a special bottle of aged whiskey named ‘Beefy’s Record’, a box of man-sized Slazenger tissues, a new ‘England’s Second Greatest Ever’ bowler mug and a book on healing after loss.
Oliver Gray, Slazenger’s Brand Marketing Manager, said, “We’ve been celebrating Jimmy’s incredible achievement over the past two weeks but we did also think a thought should be spared for England’s former greatest bowler as the torch was passed on.
“Sir Ian Botham is well known for his sense of humour so we were confident he’d be pleased with our gift, we’re particularly looking forward to hearing his thoughts on ‘Beefy’s Record’ when he returns to the UK!“
